Dont Bug Me, Im Baking.

It is June and summer is just around the corner. And we know here in Oklahoma that summer is in the works as the thunderstorms are passing through. We have amazing thunderstorms here. Lots of rain, loud crackling thunder and bright lighting strikes. Nothing really to celebrate when they cause damage to homes and businesses, but I love it anyhow when the storms come through in the middle of the night. The temperatures right now are very pleasing, its nice outside yet it has been raining too much. I am not quite ready for one hundred degree temperatures just yet, but anyhow a short summer vacation is welcome.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the backyard bugs pan from Williams Sonoma. Made by Nordicware, a fabulous addition to any kitchen (with or without kids...) It is the cutest thing ever by far. Ive had lots of fun baking with this. I love it first because it is non stick. No need for spraying and stuff. The bugs come out clean and perfect every time. It also cleans up easily, and well it is just plain cute. And we all know Im a sucker for bees and ladybugs. My friend at work has commissioned a couple of small cakes for her boy's birthdays this week so one small chocolate cake with a sugared bee on top and one with a ladybug. My pregnant friend Ms. Marvelous got a surprise last week with a hot pink sugared ladybug and a light pink and black bee. So I have had a lot of fun playing around with icing and colored sugars and sprinkles in the kitchen.
The cakeletes would be perfectly served up on these fabulous bug shaped little dishes from Target. And dont forget the coordinating condiment set here. And the cute little grasshopper boat that I simply must have here. Oh, and the butterfly chip and dip server here. These are all too cute to pass up.

I saw that cute bug pan at Baking Bites! I'm such a sucker for those things: castles, flowers, bees... but I don't think I'm talented enough to actually decorate them. That keeps me from spending the dough.
